Yeah, unfortunately I am having serious problems with the current version of the site—it does not seem to be repairable. Fear not, though, a new version should hopefully be up very soon.

A year goes by, and we’re up to version 0.08 of the textmode library, plus I’ve fixed a nasty segfault bug in the C-based parser. Cheers.

Hey boys, I’m still a newb in the ANSI scene, began least than a month ago, learning from the OLD SCHOOL :P and I find it sad to see a wonderful site like this one pretty much unused….i wanted to know if there were still pablodraw servers which i would’ve got some help drawing my ANSI’s. So,if anyone is still there, check it back….at least i should’ve tried to bring it back.
ANSI ARE dead?, but never I heard of it….we’re just gonna blow all the fuckers who killed it and we shall perpetuate this awesome art…. well j/k, i know it’s flash who killed it. :(
Thank you for your interest and ANSI love,
~illZ, for the love of drawing with cubes hahaha
**please tell me LS if i wrote something offensive, thanks…just trying to bring the ansi artists back on

Under DOS the 437-CP-Charset/EGA.CPI contains three different sizes: 8×8, 8×14 and 8×16, but it could be right that the original IBM codepage was only available in 8×16…

Shouldn’t the characters be 8×16 and not 8×14 (e.g. http://meph728.piranho.de/i/36_0_84.png)?

Topic: Textmode Art / JavaScript based ANSI viewer

HTML5 Version:
After the page has loaded all data are local and the speed is independend from the network speed. This version has high CPU usage and the display speed depends only from your browser (chrome recommended) and CPU.
.
HTML4 Version:
Every ANSI char is loaded as image file and the speed depends from your network and CPU. The browser loads the images asynchronous and therefore the chars are not displayed one by one. If you load the same page a second time this did not happen because your browser has all images cached.
.
.
.
Tuning:
Both versions would become faster if they would not render the ANSI char by char (eg render only rows or the complete ansi). I don’t like this because you don’t have the typical style how ansi was displayed. Therefore you must be patient like in good old modem times…

Wow, thats pretty kick ass.
Is there any way to speed up the drawing though? or is that dependant on the speed of your server sending out the data?
Also the HTML 4 version draws the ansi all over the place, ie not top to bottom, its actually quite funny to watch though.

Topic: Textmode Art / JavaScript based ANSI viewer

Hello,
I have written a JavaScript based ANSI viewer (no server language required). There are two versions:
1.) “HTML 5 Canvas” version:
Notes:
– the viewer draws the ANSI files to a HTML 5 canvas. At the moment not all browser support HTML 5 canvas (no support in IE)
– the page is very large (650 KB) because some sample ANSI files are included
– best viewed with Firefox
– standalone HTML file, meaning no additional external files needed -> Save HTML and you can use it offline.
ANSI can be saved as PNG
http://meph728.piranho.de/AnsiCanvas.htm
2.) “HTML 4” version
Notes:
– the viewer draws the ANSI file with images of the ansi font
– the page is very large (
650 KB) because some sample ANSI files are included and many images bust be loaded.
– best viewed with Chrome
– no standalone HTML file
http://meph728.piranho.de/AnsiPic.htm
What do you think?
Meph
PS: My English is poor. Sorry.
